Brexit – Secure a deal based on a new customs union, a close single market relationship and guarantees of rights and protections, within three months of being elected. Hold a referendum within six months of being elected to put the deal to a public vote alongside the option to remain in the EU.
Low income work – Ban zero-hour contracts. Enforce a Real Living Wage of at least £10 per hour.
Four Day Week – Reduce the average working week down to 32 hours within a decade. Eliminate in-work poverty in the first term of a Labour government.
Working Time Commission – Set up a Working Time Commission to recommend whether to increase statutory leave entitlements. End the opt-out from the European Working Time Directive and require working hours to be included in legally binding sectoral agreements between employers and trade unions.
Social Care – Launch a new National Care Service to provide free personal care for all older people, address the funding gap in social care and support the care workforce.
Housing – Build one million low-cost homes over ten years. Increase renters’ rights. End rough sleeping within five years.
Education – Close ‘tax loopholes’, including charitable status, of private schools. Force universities to admit the same proportion of private school students as in the wider population. Replace Ofsted with a new system of peer review. Introduce free nursery education for all two to four-year olds. Scrap tuition fees. Deliver free vocational and technical education, including for adults.
Justice – Reverse all Conservative Government cuts to legal aid funded Early Legal Help within the first 100 days of a Jeremy Corbyn government. Create ‘People’s Law Centres’ and launch of a ‘Community Lawyer’ initiative. Close Yarl’s Wood and Brook House detention centres as part of a full review of the entire detention estate.
Foreign Policy – Issue a formal apology for the first Amritsar massacre. Give the Chagos Islanders and their descendants the right to return.
Electricity Networks – Create National and Regional Energy Agencies. Nationalise the Grid.
Electric Vehicles – Launch a publicly owned community car-sharing clubs, with 30,000 electric cars on the streets for hire. Launch a one-year scrappage scheme to replace cars driven on fossil fuels over ten years with new electric cars. Ensure Business car fleets go electric by 2025. Invest £3.6bn in a ‘mammoth’ expansion of the UK’s electric vehicle charging networks.
Renewable Energy – Build 37 new offshore wind farms with a 51% publicly owned stake under a ‘People’s Power Plan’. Launch a New Green Deal for the NHS including solar panels on hospitals and low emission ambulances.
Food – Legislate for a new ‘Right to Food’ in a new Fair Food Act. Create a new National Food Commission, to monitor food insecurity, make recommendations to governments and oversee all aspects of the food system in Britain. Halve food bank usage within the first year of a Labour government.
Pharmaceuticals – Create a new, publicly-owned generic drugs manufacturer to supply cheaper medicines to the NHS and use compulsory licensing to secure generic versions of patented medicines.
